Together, we can reach more communities across the district and make a lasting impact.
Greetings, I'm Tyler Ivanoff, and I'm thrilled to announce my candidacy for Alaska State House District 39 once more. I'm deeply committed to representing all the communities in our district with passion and dedication.
Having lived in a small, rural community myself, I understand the challenges and triumphs our people face. From high living costs and airfare to housing shortages and unemployment, these are pressing issues affecting our communities every day. Many areas, like Shishmaref, still lack basic necessities such as running water, and our schools struggle with high turnover rates among teachers.
District 39 is vast and diverse, encompassing cultures such as Yupik, Cupik, and Inupiaq, as well as lifelong Alaskans from various backgrounds. Despite our challenges, we are resilient people who have thrived off the land for generations.
I am dedicated to improving education in our district, ensuring our children have opportunities to succeed both academically and through vocational training. We must address the high turnover rates among teachers and find state-level solutions to support our communities.
As Nome serves as a critical hub for Arctic travel, its port is of utmost importance. We must also empower our communities to achieve economic self-sustainability and stability.
As a subsistence fisherman, I understand the significance of salmon to our communities. The recent closures on salmon, particularly king salmon, have had a detrimental impact. We need urgent state-level action to address declining salmon numbers and improve fisheries management.
If elected, I promise to fiercely advocate for our people and our state. Together, we can overcome our challenges and build a brighter future for all.
