Tyler Ivanoff for Alaska House District 39
A Candidate for the People
Hello, I’m Tyler Ivanoff and I am once again running for the Alaska State House District 39. My purpose is to stand up for all communities in our great district.
Since the 2020 Election, I’ve continued to follow the Alaska State Legislature, particularly the votes of our Current Representative, Neal Foster. He promised in 2020 to pay back the past PFD amounts, and vote for a full PFD.
THE PROBLEM
During the Special Sessions of 2020 he did vote for a full PFD, however he Voted against the Governors proposed 50/50 plan that would give Alaskans a little over $3,000 of the Statutory $4,200. This really shows his true intentions, he’s counting votes. Foster only seems to pass PFD Amendments in Committee, when he knows the votes needed are not enough to push the amendments through. I find this frustrating and wrong when all Alaskans need the money now.
THE SOLUTION
When you elect me, I will vote for us to get the past PFD amounts and for a full PFD, annually. I will also vote to put the Statutory PFD into our constitution. By law, the PFD shall be paid. The PFD must therefore be paid before calculating the budget.
Living in a small, rural community, I understand the successes and the struggles of our people. The cost of living is high. Airfare is high. Housing shortages impact our people. The Unemployment rate throughout the region is sky high, and jobs are scarce. Many communities like Shishmaref still have no running water. Turnover rates in our School Districts effect our student’s education. These are real problems we face today.
District 39 is huge, and has many cultures: Yupik, Cupik, Inupiaq, and also lifelong Alaskans with diverse cultural backgrounds who only know Alaska as their home - Real People, Our People. Since time immemorial we have survived off the land and flourished. Our problems shouldn’t stop us from flourishing.
I will fight to continue to improve Education in our district. Not only shall we educate our kids to succeed by pursuing college degrees, but encourage them to pursue a courses in a Trade as well. Teacher turnover rate is very high in our communities. We need to come up with solutions as a state to solve this problem.
Nome as a hub plays a crucial role in Arctic Travel in Marine Waterways, and it’s Port is important.
We need to help our communities find ways to become economically self-sustaining and stable.
This year the Alaska Legislature has run amuck, and since 2016, have decided to dip into the pockets of Alaskans. We need to solve our governance problems to stop this from happening.
Over $1.2 Billion of Tax Credits have been given to Oil Companies. We need to come up with a solution so that both sides can win!
By electing me, I promise you that I will stand up and fight for our people!
